VOLUNTEERS: Making a difference...

Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley controls homeowner costs by using a volunteer structure for all labor.  You can volunteer to help construct a Habitat home, to work on one of our committees, to help at our ReStore or to help in the office.  Use the links on the left to explore our volunteer opportunities.  The first step to volunteering is to attend one of our orientation meetings (see details to the right).   If you want additional information prior to attending the meeting,

Event committee for our 20^th year anniversary

In 2010 we will celebrate 20 years of service to the community.  Our construction goal is to do 20 projects in our 20th year.  To celebrate we will have a Spring 'kick-off' to introduce our projects to be held at our ReStore, run a 'blitz rehab' to renovate a home in 20 days during the summer and finish with a celebration party.  We need your help executing this plan.  Listed below are 'job descriptions' for our event team for the year.   We would like to have a team for both our 'kick-off' and our year end celebration.  Can you help?  If you are interested contact Bill Klaves by e-mail by clicking here or at our office at 847-836-1432.  Our existing team has been highly successful, but this, like our build schedule for the year, is an ambitious goal and we need your help!

Chair:   Provide Leadership for the event planning process.   Help recruit and motivate committee members, coordinates committee activities, and acts as a liaison between the committee and the Habitat Staff.

Promotions and Marketing:   Design and distribute invitations and ticket sales, develop a marketing plan, prepare and release media and press information and distribute signage for posting in local businesses.

Underwriting and Sponsorship:   Solicit sponsorship, underwriting and auction items.

Event Production:  Provide the planning, set-up and clean up for the event.  Plans the entertainment for the event.  Plans catering and beverages.

Decorations:   Sets the appropriate atmosphere for the event, plans and provides the decorations,  creates the ‘displays’ for project sponsorship.

Volunteer Orientation Meetings

Learn about all the opportunities to volunteer at Habitat, from ReStore operation, construction, and our various committees at one of our orientation meetings.  Orientations are 10:00 am. on the first and third Saturdays of each month at our ReStore facility, 800 N State (Route 31) in Elgin, approx. 1 mile South of  I-90.   A map is located in the ReStore section of this site.
