Senator Noland 20 Day Blitz Build On July 9th Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley began our 20 day Senator Noland blitz build. We will track our progress on the page, daily!
Day 1 Our Blitz Kicks Off Today we kicked off our Senator Noland 20 Day Blitz. Previously our volunteers deconstructed the interior of the home and framed an interior shell and the interior walls. Our contractors installed plumbing, heating and electrical. Today the Senator's team will remove the exterior siding and frame for windows.
Blitz Day 2 Our volunteers arrived and the task for the day was to complete framing our windows and get our siding to the site.
Blitz Day 3 The volunteers for our third day came Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters Apprentice & Training Program, from our partner family, and from some industrious volunteers. We continued digging post holes for the deck (not every job is glamorous) , window framing, insulation and began the siding for the home.
Blitz Day 4 Our Carpenters returned and were joined by volunteers from Eaton, who were put to work finishing the insulation. Stayed tuned tomorrow to see the siding.
Blitz Day 5 Now you can see the siding color, the tasks remain hang Tyvek, finish the insulation, and hang siding. The beige and white trim look cool!
Blitz Day 6 Eaton sent it's second team for the week, they focused on the shed. And, as you can see from these pictures, our Carpenter Union support is focused on completing our siding, and we are very thankful for the support from both these groups.
Blitz Day 7 While work continues outside, we start the drywall in the home.
Blitz Day 8 Our crew for day 8 were from Hilti Tools. And the other shots are the home after one week of hard work. Siding complete and drywall waiting for taping.
Blitz Day 9 The crew for day 9 come from our 'Women Build' team. A little late starting, that is why the small group shot, but made up for it in effort.
Blitz Day 10 Things slow down at this stage as the drywall gets taped. We are also finishing our shed.
Day 11 On day 11 a second team from Zurich arrived, while they built a deck, we had the trees in front of the home professionally removed. Sure starting to shape up.
Day 12 On day 12, Hoffer Plastics was the prime work crew. They started by painting trim, but primed inside the hoe and yes, planted some front bushes.
Day 13 Now that all the drywall is up and taped, the task is painting. The team for today cam from E. A. Langenfeld, and State Senator Mike Noland, one of the sponsors, and members of his staff.
Day 14 On Day 14 our team was from Sears Holding, and our initial project leader returned. The rains came early and hard, but the team mad progress. The task, flooring.
And this must be day 14a. We know they would not squeeze in another day., but our Executive and Development Directors and Joe, our punch list guy showed up to help keep the project on schedule.
Day 15 Day 15 was our Women Build Day. Our volunteers were ready to go. Other pictures are of our homeowner looking at her counter top and cabinets, our cabinet planning session and our tile crew in the bathroom.
Day 16 We have a small but mighty group on site, our project leader, and representatives from our office, ReStore, partnership and Women Build. Need to get ready for the finish plumber work, so finish the cabinets in the kitchen, floor in the bath and then trim, trim, trim. And by the way, a new roof.
Day 17 We know we are in the end game, another group to focus on a number of trim tasks. Below, putting edges on the counter tops and trim boards on the windows. And how does the kitchen look? We know the saw horse needs to disappear!
Day 18 The group today was from Lincoln Financial. The task, continue painting 2nd coats and touch up, trimming and cleaning. We are definitely in the end game streaking toward Saturday.
Day 19 We have another fine group of new and repeat volunteers, they get to putting the finishing touches on the home, cutting trim and installing hardware.
Day 20 House blessing, the pictures speak for themselves
