Welcome to Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley’s home page. We are a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, home building organization.
Our Mission
We build homes in the northern portion of Kane County for families in need who cannot qualify for a conventional mortgage. Our partner families work along side our volunteer labor force in the construction of their home. Once completed, the homes are sold to the family at no profit and the families are provided with a zero interest mortgage.
We Need Volunteers for our Blitz Build
Ever want to be at a Habitat Build Site? Here is a chance to help our mission! Click on Volunteering to the left, go to our Volunteer Up page by using the link at the bottom of the page, register and sign up. We especially need help on Monday and Wednesday July 12 and 14, or numerous other days during our 20 day project. Please Consider Helping with this Anniversary Project, see the next item.

anniversary and community service year.
2010 marks our 20th year of service. We will complete 20 projects in 2010, 10 rehabs and 10 'A Brush with Kindness' projects. Our rehabs will include a 'Women Build' Project, and a 20 day 'Blitz' Rehab in July. A Brush with Kindness is a one or two day exterior fix-up program targeted toward disabled or senior citizens who would like to 'spruce' up the exterior of their home, but aren't capable.

Habitat Home Ownership
If you want to own your own home and can't afford a conventional mortgage, you may qualify for our program. To learn about becoming a Habitat for Humanity Homeowner, you must attend one of our orientations. Our next meeting will be on Saturday August 7th at 10:00AM at ReStore. ReStore is located at 8oo N. State in Elgin. State is Route 31, ReStore is about 1 mile south of I-90 on Route 31. Space is limited so call our office, 847-836 -1432 or click here to e-mail our volunteer coordinator and we will add you to our invitation list for the meeting.
Corporate Partner Spotlight----Barrington Bank
Barrington Bank worked at our
Papoose site on Saturday June 19th. They contributed to the
construction fund for the rehab and brought a great team to work inside
framing the home and on the foundation for a new shed.
The work day was a great 'mixer' for their
team.

20 Projects for 20 Years hits the Courier news, follow this link. Elgin took a step closer to partnering with HFHNFV to renovate 4 homes. The initial funding was part of the Neighborhood Stabilization Program. Here is a press clipping.

volunteering: get Involved The driving force behind the organization is its volunteers— those who contribute a day, a week, a few months, to give Habitat’s vision a tangible form. Help build, serve on a committee or at the ReStore, assist in fundraising events, donate materials. To learn more about volunteering, including some of our critical needs, click here, or attend one of our orientations. Orientations are the first and third Saturdays of each month at 10:00 AM at our ReStore facility located at 800 North State in Elgin (Rt. 31, one mile south of I-90). Critical NEEDS: We are 'rebuilding' our event planning team. This team supports our ground breaking and house blessing ceremonies; represents us at trade shows and community events; and will support our end of year concert at the Hemmens in Elgin. The team meets one Wednesday evening per month to plan activities, then of course members support our various events.
